I’m Back, Baby!
Oh, MAN!
Who woulda thought writing a book could be so much work? Not me, I’m embarrassed to say. After cranking out a thousand words a day for magazines, Web sites, and blogs all these years, I figured it was a small matter to stretch out … a 50,000 word book in 50 days, right?
Wrong.
There’s a lot more to it than that, and rather than bore you with the details, suffice it to say that the last chapter alone took me two weeks, and its not even that long. I once remember reading someone’s apology for writing a long letter “because they didn’t have time to write a short one.” I can relate.
Anyhow, I finished the book last Friday. It’s ready to be sent out to agents and publishers; if you are one or the other and would like to check it out, by all means, drop me a line.
So after a month or more of hardly blogging, I’m ready to jump back into the water. First up will likely be a response to being called out by one David Adler, of all people, who apparently has the rare power to divine hidden meaning in my writings. (Did you know that I think anything “not explicitly tied to the post-Ayler school of skronk” is “conventional?” Neither did I, until David told me.) More on that soon …

Congratulations! Are you gonna’ put the book up for free for a limited time, too?
Comment by Matt LeGroulx — January 25, 2010 @ 9:39 amHey! Good to see you back. Given the hidebound damaged state of the content biz, you might consider a Kindle launch or self publishing on demand with Lulu.
I don’t know what to make of the Adler drill. My latest screed had you in mind. You are upsetting the apple cart..damn you.
Comment by Chris Rich — January 25, 2010 @ 10:06 amThanks, guys. As far as publishing goes, I’ll just put it this way: The book will be published in some form, whether by me or someone else.
As for David Adler, his call-out puzzled me, but I’ll have more on that tomorrow.
Comment by Chris — January 25, 2010 @ 1:59 pm[…] a full listen through. I was prompted to do so after reading the argument that is standing between Chris Kelsey, Graham Collier and David Adler concerning certain qualifications of music. One thing in particular […]
